      <image:title>lorelei - l o r e l e i</image:title>
<image:caption>lorelei” is a solo based on the mystery and seduction of the folklore of the Sirens and Selkies, half woman, half creature. Named after the German legend of a Siren living on the Rhine River, this piece uses hyper-detailed movement and strategic obfuscation of the face to create a hypnotic feeling, the allure of the Siren. Most of the movement exists in the upper body, naked , seated with my the dancer’s back to the audience. This placement of the piece echoes the split identity of the female image, which inspires it. “lorelei” intends to explore a duality of the female experience through the lens of the Selkie folklore, having the potential to be equally grotesque and goddess simultaneously.</image:caption>

As the Kingsland Wildflowers offer a habitat for species to come home to, so too does this piece, bringing the performers back to their organic roots; Earth, Water and Sky. They tread lightly so as to support the environment around them while offering their own gifts of homecoming to the space. <image:title>Seolh - Seolh</image:title>
<image:caption>Seolh is based on the Scottish myth of the "selkies", mythic sea creatures, half woman, half seal, that embody the human quest for freedom. This piece investigates the ties that bind us both natural and constructed and the often painful journey of discovery that brings to light our true identity full of resilience and freedom. The story is told through the bodies of eight women, representing distinct iterations of selkie. Through these women the piece explores a multitude of characteristics that are exemplified in the selkie story such as seduction and danger, conflict and tenderness, wisdom and weathering. Further inspired by the seductive powers of the songs and incantations commonly associated with folklore creatures, the piece will explore music, composed and sung by Bre Short, that evokes haunting feelings of living memories and missing parts. EXPLORE THE MAKING OF Seolh</image:caption>
